Taylor Swift has reached the peak of her career, becoming the richest female singer in the world. According to Forbes, her net worth is estimated at $1.6B
Taylor Swift’s record The Eras Tour made her a billionaire in 2023. Her fortune includes $600 million in music sales and royalties, another $600 million from albums she re-released in 2021 under the Taylor’s Version label, and about $125 million from real estate.
In June 2019, the masters of singer/songwriter Taylor Swift’s first six studio albums were acquired by artist manager Scooter Braun as part of his acquisition of Big Machine Records, Swift’s label until 2019.
Taylor Swift said she had been trying to buy the masters for years, but Big Machine Records offered her unfavorable terms. She condemned Braun’s business dealings. Former Big Machine Records president Scott Borchetta says Swift turned down the opportunity to buy back the rights and challenges Swift’s claims.
Taylor Swift has announced that she will re-record her first six studio albums to reclaim ownership of her assets. On April 9, 2021, she released Fearless (Taylor’s Version), a re-recording of her 2008 album Fearless. It was followed by Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on November 12, 2021, July 7, 2023, and October 27, 2023, respectively.
These re-releases have returned her to the charts with some of her older favorites. Taylor Swift tweaks some of her work to add more flair.
Swift also released a brand new album, The Tortured Poets Department, in April 2024, which became her longest-running No. 1 album in the U.S., holding the top spot for over 14 non-consecutive weeks.
Increasing album sales and touring success gave Taylor Swift the momentum she needed to surpass Rihanna as the world’s richest female musician.
