Gabourey Sidibe Gives Birth, Welcomes Twins With Husband Brandon Frankel

Precious star Gabourey Sidibe and husband Brandon Frankel, who tied the knot in 2021, welcomed twins Maya and Cooper earlier this year

The Oscar nominee and her husband Brandon Frankel shared they welcomed their twins, a girl and a boy named Maya and Cooper in April.

“Brandon always wanted to name a son Cooper, so we can call him ‘Coop,'” Gabourey told The Shade Room June 6, “and Maya was named shortly before our baby moon to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. Both twins have traditional West African middle names after members of my family.”

And the Precious star learned how special the bond between twins can be during her first few months of motherhood.

“Cooper will sometimes speak for Maya and alert us that she’s about to spit up,” she explained. “Maya loves her name being sung to her and is the queen of comedic timing, and Cooper loves his sleep and has the funniest facial expressions. They both love cuddling with Mom and Dad.”

Gabourey, 41, first shared the news of her pregnancy in February with a photo of herself and Brandon posing with one hand each on her baby bump.

“I’m pregnant,” she captioned the sweet pic. “We thought it was time to give our cats some responsibility so we’re giving them each a baby to take care of! Double the babies, double the cats, double the fun!! Twin Delivery coming soon! Twinty Twinty Four!!”
