Hurd, the widow of the former Oracle CEO Mark Hurd, and Gates confirmed their relationship in 2023, about four years after the death of Hurd’s husband and two years after the end of Gates’ marriage.
At the time of dating confirmation, a source told PEOPLE their relationship was “widely known” in their social circle.
They were first spotted together at sporting events, including the Laver Cup in September 2022 and the Australian Open in January 2023. They also attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s engagement party in 2023.
Hurd, a University of Texas graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, is a developer, philanthropist and organizer of “memorable” event experiences, based on her LinkedIn bio.

Gates and his ex-wife Melinda French Gates announced they were divorcing after 27 years of marriage in May 2021.
“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives,” part of their joint statement on Twitter (now X) read at the time, referring to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which they founded in 2000.
“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life,” the statement concluded.
