They got married in 2012 and now have three cute daughters: James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4. Lively announced in February 2023 that she and Reynolds had quietly had their fourth child. The star had already said she was expecting when she walked the red carpet in September 2022 with her baby bump out in the open.

Lively and Reynolds like to keep their kids out of the public eye and off of social media, but they’re not afraid to talk about their family in public.

“I’m a parent of three girls,” Reynolds joked about his “wild” children during a talk at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. They’re c𝖗𝖆𝖟y. “Sometimes I think they have rabies.”

No matter the jokes, Reynolds has said many times that he “loves being a girl dad.” He told Access, “I have three daughters, which I never in a million years would have thought of.” I come from boys. My three older brothers are here. Having three girls has been a wild ride for me, and I love every minute of it.

It’s been said that having kids has helped Lively feel better about herself. “I never felt more myself or at ease in my own body or more confident,” she shared with Forbes. “Not to say that there aren’t a bevy of insecurities coming at me a million times a day, but I just feel incredibly settled.”

Ellen Lively and Ryan Reynolds are both actresses, but Reynolds won’t let their kids work in the business until they’re older. Reynolds told PEOPLE at the American Cinematheque Awards in November 2022, “Putting a kid in this business, it’s just not about the kid.” “It’s usually about the parents.”

“When they’re older, they can do whatever the 𝔥𝔢𝔩𝔩 they want,” he said. “That makes me happy. At this point, it’s our job to get people interested in as many things as we can.

Reynolds and Lively took all four of their children to a Wrexham AFC soccer game in Wales in March 2023. Before the game, the Adam Project star and co-owner of the team ran around the field with his family.

The next month, Ryan Reynolds said that Wrexham’s 𝖉𝖗𝖆𝖒𝖆𝖙𝖎𝖈 3-2 win over Notts County was like the birth of his children: “Aside from the birth of my children, this day was up there for me, emotionally.”

Lively took James and Inez to see Aunt Taylor Swift play in Philadelphia in May 2023. The pop star saw the girls in the middle of the show and yelled, “Hi James!” “Hey Nezzy!”

James Reynolds, 9

The 16th of December 2014 saw the birth of James Reynolds. She told The MR PORTER Post that Reynolds and his wife named their daughter James after his late father, who died soon after she was born. Reynolds said, “It felt right.” He also said, “Just before he died, he got to see her, which makes me happy.”

Evans was asked on Good Morning Britain about the “unusual” name choice for a girl. Reynolds joked, “In the range of weird celebrity baby names, I don’t really feel like we’re вяєαкιиg new ground here.” It’s not her name that I called Summer Squash Meadowlark.

James turned heads for the first time when she was only 2 years old and was on Taylor Swift’s record Reputation. As you listen to the beginning of “Gorgeous,” you can hear James. Swift gave her credit in the record booklet.

On “Good Morning America,” Lively said that she and Reynolds jumped and filmed on their phone when they heard their daughter’s voice at Swift’s show. Reynolds threw his hands in the air. “We looked terrible,” Lively said. “This is the true, unfiltered version of our terrible stage-parent pride.”

Reynolds told Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show that his girls didn’t know Taylor Swift was a famous pop star for a long time.

“Then they went to a concert and realized it wasn’t a hobby anymore,” he said, adding that Aunt Taylor’s music is now “like a religion in our house.”

Reynolds took James to Wales in January 2023 to see a Wrexham game. As he walked through the stands at The Racecourse Ground, the Deadpool star was seen holding James’ hand. He was also caught on camera talking to other fans while James calmly waited.

Inez Reynolds, 7

Ninez Reynolds, Lively and Reynolds’ second child, was born in New York on September 30, 2016.

Lively told PEOPLE the right way to spell her daughter’s name in an interview. “I had a new baby, Inez, with a ‘z’ even though everyone says it’s with a ‘s.’ I don’t know why,” she stated. “Please tell Wikipedia.”

The author Reynolds says that Inez has a “dark side.” On “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” the proud dad talked about the characters that his daughter liked best. “She really likes bad guys,” he said. “We watch Beauty and the Beast and her favorite character is Gaston.”

He kept making jokes about how spunky she is, saying that even her doctor has noticed. “Our pediatrician, when she met Inez, she said, ‘Oh, this one’s shady,’” said Reynolds. “Just the other day, when we were going home, she was the only one in our family who got the secondary security pat down at 2 years old. We were at the airport.” She just takes it like a convicted criminal.

You can also see that Inez is stylish. Inez chose for Lively to wear a floral skirt, a 𝔥𝔬𝔱 pink sweatshirt with a rhinestone smiley face, and black shoes with a fuzzy pink heel. The date she was born is October 4, 2019. Lively and Reynolds haven’t said why they chose the name they did for their third girl, but the Gossip Girl star has said that it’s a family name. She said that the name “Betty Buzz” for her non-𝔞𝔩𝔠𝔬𝔥𝔬𝔩𝔦𝔠 sparkling drinks came from her dad and his mother, Betty.

In a news release, she said, “My dad’s name was Ernest Brown Jr., but he was known as Ernie Lively.” “When he married my mom, he gave up his last name. Any success he or I have had has been in a name that isn’t his.” I worked hard to build this business because I wanted any success to have a name that meant something to him. His mom and sister were both named Betty.

Swift, who is good friends with Lively, was the one who confirmed the girl’s name in public with her song “Betty.” Also, the song talks about the couple’s other two girls: “You heard the rumors from Inez/You can’t believe a word she says” and “She said, ‘James, get in, let’s drive.’”

In 2020, Lively said that Inez had a hard time getting used to Betty’s entrance. “It’s been a little hard to get used to things around here, but it’s good,” she told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. “I have two other daughters, so my oldest is very much into the baby, but my middle child, not so much.”

Lively posted pictures of her and Reynolds’s Super Bowl celebrations on February 12, 2023. In the pictures, she hintingly said that they had just had their fourth child. The first picture shows the pair with Lively’s mom. Lively was not pregnant in that picture. It said, “Puppy Bowl Sunday 2023🥞 🍲 🥤 been busy” under the picture.

They said they were going to have six children in September 2022. On the red carpet at the 10th Annual Forbes Power Women’s Summit, Lively wore a minidress with sequins that showed off her baby bump. Then, PEOPLE revealed the news of the pregnancy.

In the later part of that month, Lively shared a series of pictures on Instagram of her growing baby bump. The photos included ones of her with Reynolds and Swift.

The pictures looked happy, but the words that went with them didn’t. To make the cameras happy, it was clear that the Gossip Girl star only shared the pictures.

“Here are photos of me pregnant in real life so the 11 guys waiting outside my home for a 🦄 sighting will leave me alone,” Lively wrote in the caption. “You freak me and my kids out.”

Reynolds talked about the baby’s gender in November 2022. He said that he hopes the couple’s fourth child will be a girl. The star told Today, “I know girls, so I’m kind of hoping that.” The proud dad joked that his choice was because he has three boys. He joked that his brothers “were just arsonists and firemen” as he said, “I love my well-being and my home.”

Still, it looks like they were waiting to find out the alluring until the baby was born. Reynolds told Lively that he and she “never find out ’til [they’re born].”

Reynolds talked about his youngest kid when he posted about his new show, Bedtime Stories With Ryan, on Instagram in June 2023.
