The incredible summer of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift is drawing to an end.

After a summer of work and travel with Swift, also 34, Kelce, 34, is returning to Missouri for training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs. An insider exclusively tells PEOPLE that the tight end desired to cherish every time with his celebrity girlfriend before returning to sports.

The insider describes Kelce’s experience seeing Swift in Germany during the Eras Tour, saying, “Travis’ last few concerts were bittersweet.”

“They knew their time together like this was coming to an end and he made sure to spend every minute he could with Taylor,” according to a source.

Due to their hectic schedules, Swift and Kelce are sometimes separated by distance; nonetheless, as their relationship approaches its one-year anniversary, the insider claims that the “Fortnight” singer and the NFL player seize every chance to spend time together.

“It’s definitely tough to be apart but they do everything they can to make it work and show up for each other,” according to the insider. “They are incredibly happy and in love with each other. It is visible to all of their friends and relatives.

Another insider said that Kelce “is back in football mode.” Kelce also spent his off-season filming Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity and Ryan Murphy’s new series Grotesquerie. “The Chiefs and his team are still his top priorities.”

During training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, the Chiefs are having open practices. Before the regular season starts on September 5, they will play their first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 15.

On July 21, Kelce and his colleagues returned to training camp, and the tight end unveiled a brand-new appearance in anticipation of the football season. The Chiefs celebrated Kelce’s new mustache style with an Instagram post that said, “KILLA STACHE IS BACK 👨🏻.”
