Ryan Reynolds paid respects to the 10-year-old TikTok star who had recently passed away when he visited the hospital the previous year.

Bella Thomson, also known as Bella Brave, passed suddenly on Monday, according to a post made by her mother Kyla on Instagram.

Reynolds, who previously made light of the “sexual tension” he felt with Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine, had paid Bella a visit in December at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

On Monday, the 47-year-old actor paid a touching homage to Bella on his Instagram story instead of her passing.

Bella was so endearing and humorous. Reynolds started, “It was a pleasure meeting her, and I’m very sorry to hear this news.”

She was incredibly witty and did not take anything from anyone. Especially me,’ he concluded in his homage.

Along with his condolences, he said, “The Hospital for Sick Children staff and her family deserve our sincere gratitude for their unwavering support and care.”

Bella went late that afternoon, according to Bella’s mother Kyla, who revealed the information on Sunday.

“On July 14, 2024, at 4:19 p.m. ET, our courageous girl left her legacy here on Earth to dance on streets of gold,” Kyla said.

Bella went gently into our arms. Kyla said, “Please remember her name, keep her memory alive, and honor her bravery in your hearts.”

Bella and Kyla swiftly amassed over 7 million TikTok followers and 337K Instagram followers by discussing their experiences with various medical problems.

Bella underwent bowel transplant surgery in late November 2023 after suffering from severe combination immunodeficiency and Hirschsprung’s disease.

Reynolds visited her just two weeks following the operation, and Kyla documented the visit in several TikTok videos.

In the first video, Reynolds explains that he participates in an annual “ugly sweater campaign” in support of SickKids.

As Bella adds, “It would look better with glitter on it,” and Reynolds laughs, “It would look better on fire,” he shows her this year’s ugly sweater, a festive green sweater.

She states unequivocally, “I’m not dying to wear it,” in response to his declaration that he will leave the sweater with her since he knows she is “dying to wear an ugly sweater like this one.”

Reynolds also inquired about her feelings before undergoing such a significant surgery, to which she replied, “Meh.”
