Blake Lively’s all-denim outfit is a stylish nod to Britney Spears.
Blake Lively just repeated a big moment in the history of fashion.
In a set of pictures she posted to Instagram on July 14, the former Gossip Girl star wore a rhinestone-covered Self-Portrait denim minidress and a denim Dries Van Noten trench coat. She added a small Chanel bag made of denim, Gucci shoes, and Beverly Hills Unicorn jewelry to finish off the look.
Lively posted a picture of herself with a big smile and wrote, “You say Canadian Prom Dress, I say It’s Britneyđź‘–đź‘–đź‘–,” referring to the famous denim dress by Kurt and Bart that Spears wore to the 2001 American Music Awards. She also wore a small denim bag with it at the time.

She also thanked her friend for letting her be a stylist. “@isabela.ferrer making my ‘My Size Barbie’ dreams come true by letting me dress her up for the night,” she wrote. She also praised @thestewartofny for the picture, writing, “I don’t usually post or encourage pap shots, but these guys leave my kids alone, so they have my respect đź«Ź.” Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds have four children together: James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty 4, and a fourth child due in 2023.
The star of “It Ends with Us” was seen at New York City’s Carbone on June 28, the same night picture was taken. Along with friends and co-stars Hasan Minhaj, Brandon Sklenar, and Isabela Ferrer, she was there. In another picture from her post, the group was seen toasting at the dinner table and Sklenar was given a birthday cake.
The picture spread comes just a few days after Lively made people laugh with an Instagram Story caption that said she was thirsty. Put a picture of her husband holding his four-legged co-star “Dogpool” at a Deadpool & Wolverine event and write “SOS” on top of it. He wants to make me pregnant again. Leave the cute dog behind, even though most people think it’s ugly, and take off that damn green suit. Not polite.”
