C. Ronaldo said goodbye to Euro 2024 in an extremely bad way. This was the worst major tournament in the Portuguese superstar’s career.

In the Euro 2024 quarter-finals last night, Portugal suffered a penalty shootout defeat against France after 120 minutes ended in a 0-0 draw. With this result, the European Selecao officially stopped at the tournament.

C. Ronaldo ended his last Euro in the worst possible way. He did not score a single goal in this tournament. According to statistics, this is the first major tournament (World Cup, Euro) in which CR7 could not score.

It’s not that the Portuguese superstar didn’t have a chance. Coach Roberto Martinez and his teammates created every opportunity for him to score, but he failed. In a few matches, the Portuguese players “pumped the ball” in every way for their teammate to score, making history in the tournament.

Statistics show that C. Ronaldo made 23 shots and 10 times the ball hit the target but did not score. This is a terrible record at Euro 2024. In the history of the tournament, only one player has made 10 shots on target but could not “shoot”: De Bruyne at Euro 2016.

Not only that, C. Ronaldo is also particularly unlucky in the knockout rounds of major tournaments. In his career, this player has participated in 20 knockout matches but has only scored 3 goals. CR7’s goals all came at the Euro (he has not scored in the World Cup knockout round), those were goals against the Netherlands (Euro 2004), the Czech Republic (Euro 2012), Wales (Euro 2016).

C. Ronaldo missed out on two records: scoring in 6 consecutive Euro tournaments and being the oldest player to score in this tournament. However, he still holds dozens of records such as scoring the most goals (14 goals) and having the most assists (7 times), the player with the most appearances (30 matches)… in Euro history.
