For fans who were hoping to see the two musicians together at some point, the latest development in Rihanna and Drake’s relationship is not promising.
Rihanna said that she is no longer close to the Canadian rapper in an interview that was posted online on Thursday for Vogue’s June issue.
“We’re not friends right now, but we’re also not enemies,” Rihanna, real nаme Robyn Fenty, remarked. “It is what it is.”
Drake’s swoon-worthy declaration of love for his on-again, off-again leading woman at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards stands in stark contrast to that.
During the show, he gave Rihanna the much-coveted Video Vanguard Award from the network and declared, “She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old.” He then embraced Rihanna and planted a kiss on her. She’s among my closest buddies ever. In our field, she is a genuine, breathing legend.
Days later, Rihanna would surprise everyone by showing up at Drake’s sold-out Miami concert. She would also post a thank-you note on Drake’s Instagram page for his “touching” statement, saying “I love you for that!” However, Rihanna admitted to Vogue that the VMAs incident had left her agitated.
The most awkward thing, according to her, was definitely having to wait through that speech. “I dislike being criticized; I don’t like receiving too many compliments.”
Although Rihanna and Drake aren’t together right now, she revealed to Vogue that she is in another relationship. The “Umbrella” chart-topper simply told journalist Chioma Nnadi that she was thrilled to be spending time with him, but reticent about his nаme.
“I think I never met someone who was worth it before, but I also used to feel guilty about taking personal time,” she said.
It’s possible that Rihanna is referring to Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel. The singer of “Wild Thoughts” and Jameel were caught cuddling up for coffee in June of 2017. The two have since been pictured together a few times; in October, for example, a source told PEOPLE that they were out dining and bowling with pals in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and that they were “canoodling all night.”
Rihanna wore a massive diamond ring on that finger in December, but a source told PEOPLE the jewelry had nothing to do with her engagement.
Rihanna hinted to Vogue that having children is undoubtedly in her destiny, even if she may or may not get married.
She talked about her worries in life, such as “Should I freeze my eggs?” and even revealed her thoughts about the type of mother she hopes to become.
“I will be unable to look away from my child. I’m aware of that about myself already,” Rihanna remarked. “I’m going to have to get a nanny by force,”
The busy celebrity is still dedicated to maintaining a healthy work-life balance until then. She is launching her direct-to-consumer lingerie brand, Sаvаge X Fenty, on May 11 and has a role in the film Ocean’s 8, which releases on June 8. This is in addition to the debut of her Fenty Beauty line.
“Even psychologically, simply putting down my phone and present myself has been essential to my development,” she remarked. “I’m all in when I get to work now. Because the years will pass by before you know it. Thank goodness I’m taking my time. I’m content.
Tuesday, May 15, in New York City and Los Angeles, and Tuesday, May 22, across the country, are the newsstand dates for Vogue’s June 2018 issue.
