The owners of Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds and Rσb McElhenney, are looking to capitalize on the club’s elevation to League One. They have unveiled their ambitious plans for a new stadium.
Owners of Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds and Rσb McElhenney, have unveiled grand plans to update and expand the stadium.
Since gaining majority control of the club three years ago, the Hollywood couple has experienced great success as Wrexham has experienced back-to-back promotions.
Reintroducing the Welsh team to the English Football League was a significant accomplishment, demonstrating that the Wrexham owners had kept their word to get the team back on the football league ladder.
That triumph was soon overshadowed by Wrexham’s first-time promotion to League One, and focus now swiftly shifted to the aspirational owners’ future aspirations.
After previously discussing their goal to turn Wrexham into a Premier League team, Reynolds and McElhenney have now revealed their ambitions to renovate the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham’s current Racecourse Ground boasts a capacity of 12,600 fans, with plans underway to increase that
Wrexham has experienced tremendous success, having been promoted to League One twice in a row.
The 12,600-seat capacity of Wrexham’s present stadium is something the team’s sports-obsessed owners hope to drastically increase in order to cash in on their recent success.
The club has profited from the renown of its owners by promoting Wrexham throughout Europe and America with the help of other A-list stars and a Disney documentary series.
‘It is obviously a comedic point of consternation in the program how often we’re running up against bureaucracy,’ McElhenney said, revealing ambitious new stadium re-development plans on Disney’s Welcome to Wrexham show.
Of course, there are safety issues and the like, and there is a reason why all those restrictions are in place, but sometimes it seems like obstacles are just there to be overcome.
“It seems like building in the UK is much more difficult than it is almost anywhere else in the world,” he continued.
Elhenney intends to renovate the stadium so that it can hold up to 55,000 spectators.
He went on, “We currently have a plan in place that would eventually work from stand to stand, so you get all four sides.” We estimate that we could fit between 45 and 55,000 people inside, however it’s difficult to say for sure.
The Deadpool actor, Reynolds, voiced even more annoyance with the UK’s “red tape” when it came to constructing new buildings, saying, “Yeah, I think the biggest f***ing problem is the thick buttress of bureaucracy.”
Rσb resides in Los Angeles, where the building industry is significantly different from mine in that you will pay $10 for every $1 you spend. I live in New York.
“However, there is a lot of red tape in Wales, so it’s just a matter of finding ways to check all the boxes and ensure that every bureaucrat is satisfied,” he continued.
