It is the Bad Blood singer's 11th studio album since she burst onto the music scene in 2006

Fans have speculated that the title of her most recent project was a jab at her ex-partner Joe Alwyn. Additionally, Swift seemed to make reference to the actor earlier this week when she released album lyrics on X.

There are four versions of The Tortured Poets Department in total, along with sixteen songs and an extra track called The Manuscript.

Swift announced that Fortnight, featuring rapper/singer Post Malone, would be the album’s lead single just hours before it was released.

The music video for the song, which will be released on Friday at 8 p.m. EST, has a melancholic teaser that she also shared.

Swift posted a lengthy statement on Instagram upon the album’s release on Thursday night, describing it as ‘an anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time – one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure.’

This writer firmly believes that when our tears congeal into ink on a paper, they become holy. We can let go of our darkest tale once we’ve spoken it.

“And then the tortured poetry is all that’s left,” Swift said, announcing that “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT is out now.”

The lyricist presented a slideshow of stunning black-and-white photos that were included in the album’s artwork in addition to her thought-provoking lyrics.

Swiftly, reactions from Taylor’s devoted fan base filled social media, with many referring to TTPD as “the best album Taylor has made.”

Many called it a “masterpiece” and complimented her lyrics, while also admitting that they were “crying” over the tunes.

She also released a moody teaser for the song's music video, which will be released Friday at 8pm EST

Fans were taken aback to learn that, just after The Tortured Poets Department was released, a two-hour countdown began on Swift’s Instagram page. As if the anticipation for a new album wasn’t enough.

It seems to be hinting at a possible surprise or new announcement for 2:00 a.m. ET.

The artist has hinted multiple times in the last few days about the significance of the hour of 2:00 a.m.

Swift has made several references to 2:00 o’clock in recent weeks. She featured a wall clock that was stuck at two o’clock in a teaser video for the album release.
