Ryan Reynolds, who is the father of three daughters with wife Blake Lively, has shared that he’s “hoping” that their fourth child on the way will be another girl
The 46-year-old actor talked candidly about his plans to have a second kid in an interview that aired on Today on Monday in order to promote Spirited, his newest holiday movie.
While he and Lively don’t yet know the gender of their child, the Deadpool actor expressed his hope that it would be a girl in an interview with presenters Savannah Gutherie and Hoda Kotb.
Regarding the gender of his fourth child, he remarked, “I don’t know, we never find out until [they’re born]”. I kind of hope so because I know girls. However, I’m prepared for whatever occurs.
The three daughters of Reynolds and the Gossip Girl star are Betty, age three, Inez, age six, and James, age seven.
He also admitted to having grown up with brothers, making light of the fact that this “experience” shaped his desire to have another girl.
“I cherish my health and my house. We were basically arsonists and firefighters because I was the youngest of four,” he joked.
Then Guthrie added in, saying that Reynolds has undoubtedly evolved into “the ultimate girl dad,” a moniker he approved of.
Lively made her pregnancy known in public in September when she attended the Forbes Power Women‘s Summit and showed off her growing baby bulge. She made mention of her and Reynolds’ expanding family throughout her visit.
She reportedly stated, “I just like to create,” according to E! News. “I simply really enjoy creating, whether it be for businesses, people, baking, or storytelling.”
Reynolds has expressed his worries about having a son in the past. In November 2021, he admitted to wanting a third daughter when Lively was expecting their third child, in an interview with Access Hollywood.
“We didn’t know, so when we had our youngest, I was secretly scarҽd it was going to be a boy,” he recalled. “I was only aware of girls.” Growing up around boys, I was frequently thrown through walls when a nice door was only five feet away.
The Free Guy actor has previously expressed in public how much he loves having “all women” in his home and being a “girl dad.”
In 2019, he joked on Today that having children with Lively was his way of contributing to the movement “to wipe men off the face of the earth.” “I’d have it no other way,” he remarked.
Reynolds elaborated on why he thinks prioritizing his kids is so crucial in a December 2021 interview with Jessi Hempel, senior editor at large at LinkedIn News.
“The most important thing is that I don’t want to miss this time with my kids, and I know you have kids too,” he remarked.
