LSU women’s basketball star Flau’jae Johnson is not only a skilled basketball player. The Tigers’ sophomore is also an accomplished rapper, signed to a record deal on Jay-Z’s label, Roc Nation.

Johnson scored 24 points in LSU’s Sweet 16 win over UCLA, and she will draw possibly the toughest defensive assignment in college basketball on Monday night.

The guard will go head-to-head with Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, who broke the NCAA’s overall career scoring record last month, as the Tigers and Hawkeyes meet in a national-championship rematch from last season, with a spot in the Final Four on the line.

Before Johnson found stardom in the world of basketball, she found fame in rap, as she is the daughter of murdered hip-hop star Camoflauge.

Camoflauge was killed in May 2003, while Johnson’s mother was pregnant with her. Listening to Camoflauge’s songs is one way Johnson has said she feels connected with her father who she never met.

Johnson’s talents on the mic were first seen by a mainstream audience in 2018, when she auditioned for ‘America’s Got Talent’ at age 14, performing an original song about her background and Camoflauge’s murder.

AGT judges Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell, as well as members of the audience, gave Johnson a standing ovation after her original audition.

Cowell remarked that Johnson’s audition was his favorite of Season 13 by ‘a clear mile’ with the now-LSU star advancing to the quarterfinals.

Johnson’s basketball career boomed after her first appearance on AGT, and she was ranked as the No 26 player in the country in the Class of 2022, becoming the first All-American recruited to LSU by Kim Mulkey.

Johnson’s performance on AGT last year sampling ‘Ready or Not’ by the Fugees also drew a standing ovation from the crowd and judging panel.

Before Johnson’s return to ‘America’s Got Talent: All-Stars’ last year, her mother, Kia Brooks, who calls herself the ‘NIL Momager’, said she was not nervous to watch her daughter perform.

‘I created a beast,’ Brooks said to Mandel.

Johnson likely would not enter the WNBA until 2026, giving her two more years to chase more national championships at LSU and continue her rap career in Baton Rouge.
