While the Liverpool veteran ranks Jose Mourinho higher than Arsene Wenger, he passes over Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola as the best managers of all time

Despite Jurgen Klopp’s claims to the contrary, Jamie Carragher has named the best manager in football history.

The legendary Reds manager was deciding who the best managers in football were, and he saved the best for last: one of the most successful managers in European football.

Before leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, Carragher would be overjoyed if Klopp’s team won a second Premier League title under the German coach.Klоpp is nоt expected tо mоve up Cаrrаgher’s rаnks regаrdless оf whether Liverpооl beаt Mаnchester City аnd аrsenаl in the finаl title chаse оf the seаsоn.

Along with Arsenal great and France World Cup winner Thierry Henry, the 46-year-old has been managed by a slew of current and former professionals.Vicente del Bosque, a former manager for Spain who led the country to European Championship and World Cup victories in 2010 and 2012, succeeded the Italian and took his position.

Carragher then chose Jose Mourinho ahead of Del Bosque and even ahead of Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger, with whom the Portuguese had a spectacular rivalry during his two spells as Chelsea manager.

After Henry asked Carragher to choose between Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, and Jose Mourinho, manager of Inter Milan and Porto, Carragher ultimately chose Mourinho because of his European success with both clubs.

After some time, Johan Cruyff replaced the recently appointed Roma chief, and Carragher explained his choice by saying, “I’m going to go with Cruyff.”I don’t know if Cruyff has been more successful overall, but the legacy he left behind at Barcelona is something that people talk about even now; Johan Cruyff is, in my opinion, the most influential person in football history.

Carragher swiftly named Guardiola as the superior manager and also selected him over Klopp, according to his gushing assessment of the Dutchman, which kept him in the running.

After much deliberation, Sir Alex Ferguson—heroically leading Manchester United to 13 Premier League trophies and other great honors throughout his career—and Guardiola were the two finalists for top rank.

“Select Sir Alex Ferguson over Pep because he achieved it with Aberdeen, Pep will never do that,” Carragher said, praising Ferguson’s accomplishments with United and Scotland.
