One day after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended, Ryan Reynolds is back at Coney Island filming the fantasy flick Imaginary Friends, looking suave in suspenders.
On Friday, Ryan Reynolds was spotted assuming a persona for a fantasy comedy called Imaginary Friends that he was filming on Coney Island.
The 47-year-old Deadpool star, who recently strolled through New York City holding hands with his wife Blake Lively, was spotted filming scenes for the film on the boardwalk following the formal end of the SAG-AFTRA strike on Thursday.
Hollywood films were significantly put on hold during the 118-day strike until the union and the studios reached a “tentative agreement” on Wednesday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The four-parent father looked sharp in a black and white polka-dot shirt tucked into a pair of high-waisted black pants.
He finished the look with a pair of suspenders that fit over his shoulders and into a dress pair of black and white.
Reynolds added another layer of warmth to his ensemble-a black jacket with a front button-to ward off the chillier autumnal weather.
He entered the Coney Island boardwalk set and was mobbed by film crew members. As he immersed himself in the role, rides from an amusement park were visible in the distance.
He was momentarily joined by co-star and former member of The Walking Dᗴad, Cailey Fleming, who was wearing a long-sleeved sweater and brown checkered leggings.
She wore laces to keep her comfortable blue sneakers and accessorized with a gold-chained necklace featuring a round pendant.
Ryan was last spotted in November of last year, filming sequences in Brooklyn for the much awaited project.
Alum of Office John Krasinski is both the director and writer of the picture. The fantasy film will open in theaters on May 17, 2024, and the actor will also be appearing in it.
Reynolds and Fleming are joined in the star-studded cast by Maya Rudolph, Awkwafina, Steve Carrell, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Vince Vaughn.
According to an official IMDB synopsis, the plot revolves around “a young girl who goes through a difficult experience and then begins to see everyone’s imaginary friends who have been left behind as their real-life friends have grown up.”
According to Deadline, John previously talked about the project, which he is also co-producing, saying, “I had this idea for a movie about imaginary friends years ago.”
Previously, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight last year, Steve Carrell talked about being involved with the film and getting back together with his old co-star from The Office, John.
He said at the time, “Well, I haven’t started working on the film with him yet, but I can’t wait.”
The star went on, ‘I’m expecting nothing but happiness and good times. He’s the greatest, hands down, and an excellent director.
He explained, somewhat comically, that he was going to have a joy working with Krasinski on site. You know, I’ll put him through his paces. He’ll have to earn it from me. I could be one of those picky actors who refuses to leave my trailer or doesn’t always agree.
John is no stranger to the director’s chair, having directed hits including the 2018 film A Quiet Place and its 2021 follow-up, A Quiet Place Part II.
In addition, the actor is directing A Quiet Place: Day One, the third movie in the series, which is scheduled to 𝕙𝕚𝕥 theaters in June 2024.
Ryan is starring in Deadpool 3 alongside Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Garner, Morena Baccarin, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen from Succession, in addition to Imaginary Friends.
Deadline reports that the Marvel project was once supposed to premiere a few months earlier in May, but it is now scheduled to open for public viewing in July 2024, later in the summer.
In October of last year, Reynolds talked candidly to Page Six about his ʙᴀᴛᴛʟᴇ with anxiety and мєитαℓ health. He acknowledged that he occasionally feels as though his мєитαℓ health is “out of control.”
‘I definitely have my own little routines and those types of things that help me stay centered and prevent my thoughts from racing,’ he said, adding,’sometimes I’m pretty good at it, sometimes I’m not.’
