Lil Wayne thanks “real friend” Jay-Z for helping to pay off huge tax bill
Lil Wayne owed $7.72 million in back taxes
The rappers have previously dropped diss tracks directed at one another.
Speaking candidly about their friendship, Lil Wayne called Jay-Z a “true friend” for helping him settle a significant tax debt.
The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, allegedly owes a whopping $7.72 million in taxes for 2008 and 2009. He also allegedly owed more unpaid taxes and late fines going back to 2002, totaling $3.35 million and $2.25 million.
He now says that, despite their ostensibly harsh relationship, Jay-Z assisted him in paying the amount.
The two have a history of feuding; in 2011, Lil Wayne dropped the diss single “It’s Good.” Although Jay-Z responded with “La Familia” in 2013, it appears that the rappers are still close buddies today.
“There are those such as Jay-Z. He was there for me when I needed him most. Truly, truly, deeply infatuated, Lil Wayne declared to the audience during his Chicago performance earlier this week.
Jay wants me to keep it a secret. I got aid from that man with my taxes. You guys, he really is a friend.”
Jay-Z’s net worth increased by $90 million this year, making him the officially richest musician in America, according to latest revelations.
According to Forbes’ 2018 list of the wealthiest celebrities in America, Jay-Z tied Kylie Jenner for fifth position with her cosmetics brand. George Lucas, a fellow filmmaker, comes in second place with a net worth of $3.7 billion, while Lucas is crowned the richest celebrity with a net worth of $5.4 billion.
Michael Jordan, a former basketball star, comes in fourth place with a net worth of $1.7 billion, followed in third place by Oprah with $2.8 billion.
P Diddy, the only other artist in the top 10, is worth $825 million and is ranked eighth.
