The last few weeks, Omari Hutchinson has been like an uncontrollable force of nature. For his hard work, he has now been awarded the Championship Player of the Month award.
The 20-year-old scored a goal or set up another in five of his six league games in February. He scored all three of his goals in extra time, which earned Ipswich Town four points on his own.
Ipswich is in a three-way tie with Leicester City and Leeds United for the top two automatic promotion spots in the Championship. Hutchinson, who has started five of his eleven games in the last six, will likely be very important to their chances of winning.
Good job, Omari!
By the way, one of the players Hutchinson beat out for this award is Iké Ugbo, a former Chelsea hope who is now on loan at Sheffield Wednesday from ES Troyes. Troyes was kicked out of Ligue 1 last season, which is what made Ugbo look for loan opportunities back in England. He joined Cardiff City for the first part of the season and then moved to Wednesday in January. He has scored six goals in eleven games for them!
Wednesday needs all the goals he can score to avoid going down because they are currently second from the bottom. However, the teams in 16th to 23rd place are only two points apart, so things are about to get very exciting very quickly.
