Gal Gadot, the lead actress in Wonder Woman 1984, teased the DC superhero’s wonderfully retro new appearance to the public exactly a year before the film opened in theaters.

The former Israeli model-turned-Hollywood star is seen in a poster on Instagram on Wednesday, surrounded by a vibrant, almost surreal “W” pattern and wearing form-fitting gold body armor.

Regarding the entertainment company’s decision to forego San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Gadot stated, “Although all of us at Warner Brothers won’t be seeing you at SDCC, Hall H this year, “We are so eager for what’s to come.”Here’s a small present from us to you in the meanwhile.

The image was also tweeted by director Patty Jenkins, who also mentioned that the whole #WW84 campaign won’t begin until December.

Fans expressed their joy upon seeing the reveal, pointing out that the poster’s design is distinctly pro-“queer culture” and that the Amazonian warrior’s miniskirt from 2017’s World War I adaptation of Wonder Woman is no longer present.

According to Yahoo, below is a brief description of the upcoming film:

In the follow-up to 2017’s Wonder Woman, Diana Prince faces off against a brand-new antagonist named Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) and becomes entangled in the Cold War during the Reagan Administration.Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), Diana’s Wonder Woman love interest, makes an appearance in the plot set in the 1980s even though he appears to have died in World War I.

On June 5, 2020, Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in theaters.
