Rihanna and rapper A$AP Rocky are getting closer as the weather gets colder in New York City.
The 32-year-old couple were cute as they strolled through the city at night on December 2. A few days prior, they had a great meal with friends at the Beatrice Inn in New York City.
PEOPLE’s source on the relationship says, “They’ve been inseparable the past few weeks,” in this week’s issue, which hits newsstands on Friday. “It’s a new relationship, but they both seem very into it.”
A$AP (born Rakim Mayers) and Rihanna (born Robyn Rihanna Fenty) were revealed as a couple by PEOPLE last month. The bombshell was the culmination of months of romantic speculation that began when the Grammy winner broke up with her wealthy lover Hassan Jameel in January.
An insider previously revealed to PEOPLE that Rihanna and Jameel’s relationship failed because “their lives were too different, and it was hard to maintain a relationship.”
However, A$AP’s way of life is far more in line with Rihanna’s.
The insider claims, “They always seem to be having a great time together.” “They have a lot in common.”

In fact, they became friends over music in 2012 when they co-wrote Rihanna’s song “Cockiness (Love It)” and went on a tour together the following year. A$AP used Rihanna as his muse for the “Fashion Killa” music video that same year. Their most recent collaboration was during the summer of Rihanna’s Fenty Skin campaign.
“They both are very much about helping out in the communities where they grew up,” the insider continues, in addition to their professions.
A$AP gave 120 Thanksgiving dinners to the Harlem homeless shelter where he resided with his mother, Renee Black, in the early 2000s, while Rihanna has long supported Barbados, her home island, through her annual Diamond Ball and Clara Lionel Foundation.
The insider claims that both Rihanna and A$AP are giving. “A$AP is known for being a great guy.”
The source claims that despite their lack of public disclosure about their relationship thus far, Rihanna “seems very happy dating A$AP.”
