Jay-Z launches into excoriating attack on the Grammys for NEVER giving wife Beyonce Album of the Year – despite record 32 other wins – and says ‘some nominees will be robbed tonight – and some should never have been nominated’. During his Grammy victory speech, Jay-Z criticized the Academy for not presenting his wife Beyoncé with the best album trophy, despite her 32 wins in other categories.
The Dr. Dre Global Impact Award was given to the rapper from Brooklyn in recognition of his contributions to the music business.
Jay-Z talked about the value of ambition, desire, and dreams while his 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy stood next to him on stage and his wife Beyoncé watched from a table in the audience. Beyoncé was wearing Louis Vuitton by Pharrell Williams that had just come off the runway.
Noting that Grammy awards were arbitrary and that his superstar wife had never won best album, he declared that there were more meaningful things in life than winning awards.
“She has more Grammys than anyone and has never won Album of the Year, and I don’t want to embarrass this young lady,” Jay-Z remarked. Therefore, even by your own standards, that is ineffective. Consider that. most Grammy Awards, but no Album of the Year honors. That is ineffective.

Twenty-four of the 88 competitive Grammy Awards that Jay-Z has been nominated for have been won. He has been nominated six times for Album of the Year.
In addition, Beyoncé received 32 of the 88 competitive Grammy Award nominations she received.
Beyoncé, like her spouse, has received six nominations for Album of the Year but has never taken home the trophy.
When Beyoncé lost out to Beck for Album of the Year in 2015, Kanye West staged a protest by storming the stage.
The incident bore similarities to what West did in 2009 when he famously interrupted Swift to tell her, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you.. but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,” as she won the Best Female Video award at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Beck urged West to return as he was leaving the stage. Beck later stated, “I really believed she was going to prevail.” You can’t win over everyone. I still believe he’s brilliant and I love him. I want to be like him. Indeed, how many excellent recordings has he released in the past five years?
In protest that Beck’s “Morning Phase” had surpassed her album “Beyonce,” West mimed storming the stage once more in 2015.
Pharrell, Ed Sheeran, and Sam Smith shared the votes to win Album of the Year, which is decided by the Recording Academy voters. Beck prevailed because of the unanimity of his supporters.
Following the show, Beck declared, “I really believed she was going to win.” You can’t win over everyone.
“I still think he’s brilliant and I love him.” I want to be like him. Indeed, how many excellent recordings has he released in the past five years?
In 2015, West, who was Jay-Z’s protégé, maintained in interviews that Beyonce had been defrauded.
All I know is that the Grammys must quit performing with us if they want genuine artists to continue coming back. “We’re not going to play with them anymore,” he declared.
“We’re tired of it at this point; Beck needs to respect artistry and should have given Beyoncé his award.”
On Sunday, Jay-Z noted that while it was good to win, the honors were subjective.
‘She has her own Grammys,’ he quipped at the beginning of his address, referring to the time when his Grammy Awards were repurposed as sippy cups for Blue Ivy.

‘How far we’ve come from Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff winning their first Grammy in ’89 and boycotting because it wasn’t televised,’ Jay-Z said.
After that, they watched the Grammy Awards at the hotel. Not that I understood. Not a very successful boycott.
Then, he claimed, he took a similar action.
However, in 1998, I borrowed a strategy from them. DMX released two albums that year, and I received a nomination for Best Rap Album. A special mention to DMX: they were both ranked #1, and he received no nominations at all.
I chose to abstain and instead watched the Grammys.
We just want you to get it correctly, that’s all. We cherish you all. We cherish you all. We cherish you all. We want you to do it correctly. Get things almost right, at the very least.

Then he began criticizing the awards and denouncing the fact that his wife had not been acknowledged.
He stated, “It’s music, so it’s obviously subjective because it’s opinion-based.”
Despite winning just one of the Big Four categories, she became the most honored artist in Grammy Awards history last year.
Jay-Z remarked, “So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work.”
A few of you will feel as though you’ve been conned when you return home tonight. Maybe a few of you will get robbed. A few of you are not eligible for this category. Upon feeling uneasy, I speak the truth.
But aside from that, he continued, “we just need to keep showing up and sometimes forget about the greatness of life.”
As anxious as I am, my kid is staring at me, so you really need to keep coming. To win the Grammys, just keep going to the shows.
You have to keep going until you receive all the recognition you believe you are due. Until people refer to you as a genius, a champion, or the greatest person of all time.
On social media, some individuals praised Jay-Z’s statement while others chuckled at the organizers of the Grammy Awards’ anticipated response.
A meme depicting individuals yanking TVs off of walls was shared by one, while another had someone seizing a rifle that was aimed at them and turning it around.
One user commented, “So is Jay Z saying that Beyoncé’s awards were all consolation prizes?” while another featured a meme of Oprah Winfrey rolling her eyes. And the Grammy Awards are a farce?
