David Datro Fofana scores twice in Burnley’s 2-2 draw with Fulham, marking his home debut

Burnley and Fulham played to a 2-2 tie in Saturday’s Premier League match. David Datro Fofana, making his home debut, scored twice, including the equalizer in stoppage time.

The Cottagers looked to be coasting to a 2-0 lead after just 21 minutes thanks to goals from Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Muniz. Fulham had not won on the road since the first day of the season.

However, with an unpaid loan After coming on as a substitute for Chelsea just after the hour, striker Fofana got Fulham back in the game with a header in the 71st minute. In the first minute of stoppage time, he bundled in the equalizer, tying his number of league goals for Union Berlin in 17 games from his previous loan this season—all in 20 minutes.

Even though Vincent Kompany’s squad is still seven points from safety, Burnley finally broke a 19-game losing streak in the Premier League when they scored first, and the atmosphere at Turf Moor lifted significantly following Fofana’s late intervention.

After Lorenz Assignon came on deadline day on loan from Rennes, Kompany gave him his debut at right back. However, in the 17th minute, Assignon foolishly gave away a corner. After Andreas Pereira whipped the ball in, Palhinha headed it goalward, and with a little help from a deflection from Sander Berge, his header beаt James Trafford. The error was immediately punished.

Four minutes later, things took a turn for the worst when Antoneee Robinson’s long kιck upfield found Muniz, who scored his maiden Premier League goal. After getting goalside of Hjalmar Ekdal, the 22-year-old Brazilian ran towards Trafford and lifted the ball over the exposed goalie, all thanks to Vitinho’s onside pass.
