Accоrding tо an ambitiоus rumоr, the new manager оf Liverpооl, Xabi Alоnsо, has already made his first signing as Reds bоss. The stоry states that Alоnsо has expressed his desire tо transfer a highly cоveted player frоm Bayer Leverkusen tо Anfield.
Following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement that he will leave Anfield at the end of the season, ending nine successful years on Merseyside, the Reds are currently searching for a new manager. During that time, Klopp has guided Liverpool to two Premier League and Champions League titles, solidifying his status as one of the greatest managers in the club’s annals.
Klopp has previously stated his desire to return to a “normal life” following his time at Anfield, thus rumors that he may take on another post soon after are highly unlikely. Discussions on a transfer to Barcelona, therefore, don’t seem to be on target.
With FSG already well into conversations on Klopp’s replacement—having known about his exit intention since November—the subject of Liverpool’s choice for Klopp’s successor is a hotly debated one.
According to sources on Thursday, Liverpool has already narrowed the field for the forthcoming vacant position to two candidates. However, the club’s American owners will likely remain mum about the decision so as not to detract Klopp and the team from their four-pronged trophy аttаck this season.
Former Reds player Alonso appears to be the nаme everyone is talking about, even though others like Ruben Amorim, Thomas Frank, Julian Nagelsmann, Ange Postecoglou, and Roberto De Zerbi have also been suggested as potential candidates.
Exec at Bayer denies rumors
Because of his remarkable achievement in guiding Bayer Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title on a relatively little budget and putting the team on track for their first Bundesliga title in 119 years, the legendary former Reds hero unquestionably meets all the requirements.
So, it’s easy to see why FSG would want to sign the 42-year-old. However, he’s done what he can to put an end to the rumors and keep his Leverkusen team focused on the task at hand.
When asked about the impending Liverpool vacancy, the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder gave a somewhat curt response, demonstrating Alonso’s determination to keep his players focused.
Thinking about what comes next is not something I am doing right now. I believe I’ve found the correct area, and I’m having a wonderful time here. I am at a loss for words.
Alonso continued, “I have no idea what the future holds and right now I couldn’t care less.”
Still, credible Spanish sources state that Alonso has promised Liverpool that he will meet with them to discuss the opening after the season ends.
As the first Liverpool player to be signed, Xabi Alonso
Additionally, it has been asserted that Alonso has already communicated his desire to recruit Florian Wirtz, a star for Bayer, to the Reds’ upper management, suggesting that the player might be Alonso’s first signing at Anfield.
The German playmaker has been sensational this season, contributing greatly to Bayer’s Bundesliga push with eight goals and eleven assists in 25 matches across all competitions.
With Wirtz supposedly seen as Kevin De Bruyne’s successor by Manchester City and other top European teams, Liverpool is apparently planning to “take advantage of the possible arrival” of Alonso to strike a deal for the player, which would cost them a hefty €75 million (£64 million).
The article states that Wirtz is viewed as “being the key piece on which the Spanish coach would seek to start his adventure at Anfield,” but it does not address where Dominik Szoboszlai, who occupies a similar position, would be placed.
John Barnes, a former Reds star, has also voiced his support for the idea of appointing Alonso.
“Roberto De Zerbi has been at Brighton for up to a year now so I don’t think that’s the right hire as well as he’s done at Brighton,” he said, after assessing the qualifications of the competing applicants.
In my opinion, Xabi Alonso is the perfect choice to take his place. Coming in with an affiliation and a good period at the club, he understands the club and the supporters love him.
It’s a no-brainer because of his track record as a productive manager at Bayer Leverkusen. In my opinion, there aren’t a lot of qualified people applying. You have the Ancelottis and the Mourinhos in the past.
Although Ange Postecoglou is a quality manager, his move to Liverpool would come as a surprise because he has just been with Tottenham since the summer. It would be the obvious choice, Xabi Alonso.
