Because of a private spat with Roman Abramovich, Jurgen Klopp turned down Chelsea’s interest

Despite manager Jurgen Klopp’s announcement that he would be departing the club at the end of the season, Liverpool will play their first Premier League match this evening as hosts to Chelsea.

Currently sitting atop the league, the Reds will be looking to send Klopp go on a high note by claiming the title. They are heavy favorites going into the match, but things might have turned out differently if Roman Abramovich, the former owner of Chelsea, had been successful in luring Klopp to Stamford Bridge.

The Athletic reports that Abramovich ‘coveted’ Klopp on several occasions, but the German allegedly showed little interest in accepting Abramovich’s offer of employment. ‘The hire-and-fire culture’ at Chelsea “put him off,” according to the report.

Abramovich oversaw fifteen different managerial tenure at Chelsea throughout his 19 years at the helm. But Klopp has had successful, long-term tenures as manager of all three clubs he has worked for. After nearly seven years at the helm of Mainz, Klopp enjoyed seven years with Borussia Dortmund. Having spent nearly nine years as Liverpool manager, the German is “running out of energy” and will resign at the conclusion of the current campaign.

“I can understand that it’s a shоck for a lot of people in this moment, when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it,” he stated to the press. This club, the city, our supporters, the team, and the staff are all parts of what makes this club so special to me.

“I adore all things. However, the fact that I proceed with this choice demonstrates my conviction that it is the one I must choose. “I am, I don’t know how to put it, exhausted.”Obviously, I’ve known for a while that I’ll have to reveаl it at some point, but now I’m perfectly OK with it. No matter how many times I try, I just can’t pull off this task.

It has been said that “English football will miss him” by current Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has paid respect to Klopp. “The first message I received when I was sacked from Tottenham was from him,” Pochettino stated. His work with Liverpool is just remarkable. He would like to take a break and disappear for a while. Even though it’s unfortunate for football fans, I believe he deserves it. English football and Liverpool will be sad to lose such a remarkable man. We played him in our first game back at White Hart Lane after his arrival. It was a scoreless draw. He leaves an enormous legacy.
