Would Liverpool want Roberto De Zerbi? Brighton manager addresses rumors that he could succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool’
In an effort to keep his attention on Brighton, Roberto De Zerbi has downplayed rumors that he will succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
De Zerbi’s stellar performance as Brighton manager has earned him high praise and offers of employment from some of Europe’s most prestigious teams. When Klopp announced his departure from Liverpool at the end of the season, De Zerbi seemed like a natural choice to replace him. As usual, though, De Zerbi maintains his concentration is on Brighton.
De Zerbi told reporters, “Now it is not my focus” when questioned about the Liverpool position. All eyes are on my club, all eyes on my players.
“We have a lot of things to reach this season and then we will see [about] the future.”
The first time Brighton had ever competed in European competition was under De Zerbi’s leadership. After finishing sixth, the team earned a spot in the Europa League, where they have subsequently advanced to the quarterfinals.
Despite his current concentration on Brighton, De Zerbi will continue to be a highly sought-after player around Europe. Some may wonder why De Zerbi is still with the Seagulls after the season ends. Even though Xabi Alonso is the favorite to play at Anfield, that doesn’t meаn he will.
