After returning from ιnjury, Diogo Jota wasted no time getting back to his usual high level of play. As evidence, consider his two goals in Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth by Liverpool. With Liverpool being five points ahead of the competition, he is far from the only Reds player who is performing at a high level. Teammate Curtis Jones, though, has given him a new moniker.
He described Jota as “the ghоst” because just when you think he’s not playing a role in the game, he’ll grab the ball and score! He made this statement when speaking on the official site.
During my time in the Academy, U21s, and senior squad, I had the opportunity to play alongside some world-class strikers, and he is up there with the best of them. It would be easy for a striker to disappear when the going gets tough, but Jots is never out of the game.
Okay, let’s get down to brass tacks: jots. Jones really says it twice; I had to double-check to make sure it wasn’t a typo.
“Even when, for example, his touch isn’t exactly pin-sharp, the ball will still find its way into the back of the net and it’ll be a Jota goal, and you’d think, ‘Only Jots could do that!'” he went on to sаy.
“The Ghоst” is no longer a relevant nickname; instead, focus on that one. My guess is that it’s pronounced “Jotes,” and I adore it. My night was made. I simply require a somebody to deliver a Jotsy.
Jota is a talented footballer, though. Jota has been instrumental for the Reds this season, contributing to their abundant scoring with 11 goals and four assists.
That he is a part of the squad is incredible. His confidence is through the roof right now, and he controls the show every game, so it’s no surprise that he scores goals.
Jürgen Klopp’s starting lineup is quickly starting to rely on him. A late goal by Jota against Burnley on Boxing Day gave them the victory and propelled them to the top of the league, marking his return to fitness. All four trophies are still within Liverpool’s reach this season, and the Reds must maintain the high level of play that Jota has instilled in the squad if they are to win any of them.
