An upcoming 24-hour transfer decision has the Chelsea star skipping training

Lyon planned to terminate Moreira’s loan this month, shortening his stay by half a season, according to French publications.

Having made an appearance in Chelsea’s August 30 Carabao Cup victory over AFC Wimbledon, Moreira signed in the latter days of the summer transfer window.

Unfortunately, the 21-year-old’s loan move to Lyon from Benfica, where he joined for free, hasn’t gone according to plan.

Despite making seven appearances for Lyon in Ligue 1, the young Portuguese player has unable to find the back of the net this season.Moreira will stay with the Blues until the summer after Lyon decided to allow him return to Chelsea. This is because the rules do not permit him to play for a third club this term, and he has already played for two of them.

The two main paths open to Moreira are continuing his training with Mauricio Pochettino’s first team or playing for the Under-21s, where he has made three appearances this season in Premier League 2.

He will soon be back in Chelsea. Fabrice Hawkins has reported that Moreira did not attend Sunday’s training session, but formal confirmation is anticipated to come soon after. He is expected to return to London within the next day.

Three loaned players have already been recalled by Chelsea this month. After his time with Union Berlin, David Datro Fofana headed back to Burnley to finish the season. Also, Chelsea were able to reclaim Cesare Casadei from his loan to Leicester City ahead of schedule, and Andrey Santos left Nottingham Forest.

Michael Carrick confirms fresh double ιnjury blоw ahead of Chelsea vs Middlesbrough game

Before Middlesbrough’s season-defining Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg visit to Chelsea, manager Michael Carrick has admitted he is worried about the health of crucial players Isaiah Jones and Jonny Howson.

Boro are rooting for Mauricio Pochettino’s costlyly assembled team to lose and send them crashing to Wembley. In the first leg, they gained optimism as they held Riverside Stadium scoreless and Hayden Hackney scored the lone goal.Manager Carrick, whose side lost 1-0 at home to Rotherham in the league’s basement last weekend, has cast doubt on starting Howson and Jones for Tuesday’s journey to London, where the Championship club is aiming to make its first League Cup final in 20 years.

“We are just seeing how Jonny is after he took a knock in training,” he informed Gazettelive. He wasn’t available, so it wasn’t even a break. As for Chelsea, I am not sure. I have hope, but I can’t sаy that with certainty.

“Isaiah Jones’s Izzy is something we’re keeping an eye on. Our best guess is that it’s more of a neurological issue than a muscle strain. However, we have no idea at this point. It’s anyone’s guess at this point; I’m crossing my fingers. We’ll keep an eye on him till the medical staff reports his condition.

If I didn’t think he or any of the other players could handle the long haul, I wouldn’t rιsk them. Listen, we’ll assess our roster availability and select the best team for Tuesday’s crucial and significant game.In addition to Robert Sanchez (goalkeeper) and captain Reece James (several players are out with injuries), French attacker Christopher Nkunku (hip) is still questionable for Chelsea.
