While Steven Gerrard raids his former club, Al Ettifaq are looking to add another Liverpool player to their roster to replace Jordan Henderson

In the previous summer transfer window, Henderson departed Liverpool to join Al Ettifaq of the Saudi Professional League.

But rumоur has it that Hendersоn plans tо return tо Eurоpe frоm the Middle East after оnly six mоnths.

Speculation circulated on Wednesday that the former Liverpool captain had reportedly agreed to quit Al Ettifaq for Ajax, a Dutch club, after reaching an agreement to leave.

It has been stated that Al Ettifaq have already found a successor for Henderson, who is expected to depart.

The Saudi team reportedly wants Thiago Alcantara, and manager Steven Gerrard has connections to Liverpool, so they can entice him to Saudi Arabia.

ιnjury has plagued Thiago, a Spaniard, since he joined Jurgen Klopp’s squad in 2020.

Thiago is not anticipated to return to Liverpool’s lineup until February, as he hasn’t played since April 2023.

Besides Thiago, Joel Matip, Thiago’s teammate, is allegedly another target of Al Ettifaq’s interest.

The center defender is not expected to return to duty until the end of the current campaign due to an anterior cruciate ligament ιnjury.

Due to contract expiration in June, both players are eligible for a free move to Al Ettifaq.

In November, when discussing Thiago’s development, Klopp said: “With Thiago it’s little different. It’s a continuous process. We anticipate his return around the beginning of the new year, but we cannot place any kind of pressure on him to do so.

Since we are already in the month of November, adding another four weeks to that, I think it’s a reasonable suggestion.

We are really looking forward to having him back, to be honest,” Klopp continued. This player is really fantastic.

“I get that you’re curious, but at this time, it would be impractical to provide a weekly update because that information is unlikely to change much.”
