Journalist Simon Phillips claims that Chelsea may target Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies during the summer transfer window.
According to Christian Falk, another journalist who spoke on Substack lately, Bayern would not shell out “crаzy money” to keep Davies on board because they are “not confident” in his current performance levels. Davies’ contract expires in 2025.
Another club interested in the 23-year-old is Real Madrid, who, according to an October article in Sport Bild, could be willing to pay as much as €50 million (£43 million) to get him.
To make room for another left-back in Mauricio Pochettino’s roster, Chelsea has just loaned Ian Maatsen to Borussia Dortmund, a rival club of Bayern Munich.
It appears like Bayern Munich is ready to part ways with Alphonso Davies.
Bayern might be willing to sell Davies after all. It is highly probable that they will authorize the Canadian international’s departure from the Allianz Arena if they do not offer him a deal that will entice him to remain.
The Bundesliga winners seemingly couldn’t fathom allowing a player of his caliber see out his contract before he left for free.
Despite the excellent news, Chelsea may have to compete with Real Madrid to sign him. Even if the Blues do, their current form makes it seem unlikely that they will emerge victorious.
Pochettino could definitely benefit from the addition of Davies, a quality left back, so it’s a shame. Because Ben Chilwell is constantly hurting, the Blues boss has been rotating central defender Levi Colwill onto the left side of his defense.
Chelsea have £27m Man United star who supports the Blues on their shortlist
Now that Ian Maatsen has left Stamford Bridge, journalist Simon Phillips claims that Chelsea have a shortlist of possible left-back targets.
Additionally, Substack host Si Phillips mentioned Manchester United forward Luke Shaw on his show Talks Chelsea.
But the journalist has characterized the player as a “absolute wildcard” and feels it’s a bit of a non-starter for a variety of reasons.
Shaw departed Southampton for United in 2014 after agreeing a £27 million transfer (BBC Sport). The official website of Manchester United acknowledged, however, that the 28-year-old is a Chelsea fan.

Mauricio Pochettino may benefit from adding a fresh left-sided defender to his roster, what with Ben Chilwell’s ιnjury history and center-back Levi Colwill filling in at left-back. Shaw might even be ideal.
It is clear that the England international has extensive experience playing in the Premier League. Shaw has a relatively clean record when it comes to injuries, but that’s about all. However, United trading him to a rival in the midst of the season—especially to a rival—is hard to fathom.
Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich is another left back Chelsea might sign, although he could be a tough nut to crаck.
Real Madrid has been heavily associated with the 23-year-old, so the Blues may face stiff competition from the Spanish club in the transfer market if they want to sign him. It won’t be a picnic.
Regardless of the situation, Chelsea has to bring in a new left back. It could be Shaw, Davies, or someone else entirely. Even while it would be ideal if the Blues could sign Shaw or Davies this month, they will most likely have to wait until the summer. In January, you won’t often see players of that caliber available for purchаse.
