After Fabio Carvalho’s unsuccessful loan term with Liverpool, RB Leipzig chief criticises the prodigy

After starting only three games and logging just 360 minutes of playing time in fifteen outings, Carvalho’s catastrophic loan tenure in Germany was recently terminated.

Despite not scoring or assisting during his time at Anfield, the attacking midfielder is currently out on loan again with Hull City.

He started Friday night’s play against Norwich and will be looking to lead the Tigers to a return to the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp spent £7.7 million on him in 2022 after he impressed for Fulham; Liverpool will be hoping he has a stronger showing in the Championship.

The sports director of Leipzig, Rouven Schroder, has now spoken out about Carvalho’s struggles with the club, implying that the 21-year-old lacked the effort necessary to compete for a starting role despite possessing good skills.

“We deliberately chose Fabio last summer,” he told German media. He thrived in the physically demanding English second division with Fulham. Great talent, nice age, and experience already gained—that’s what we thought.

The only way to truly understand a player is to play with him.

Fabio is an admiral human being. On the other hand, he came to the realization that he needed to step up his game because there was a competition in her. Additionally, we saw that he was reluctant to compete.

Carvalho will be looking to repeat his success from a few seasons ago with Fulham and lead Hull back to the top level, as they were seventh in the Championship before the Norwich meeting, one point off the play-offs.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are now enjoying a winter break before returning to Premier League play on January 21st at Bournemouth.
