Until the end of the season, Burnley will borrow striker David Datro Fofana from Chelsea

After being recalled from his loan at Union Berlin, Chelsea forward David Fofana is poised to complete a transfer to Burnley this coming weekend.

Thursday night saw an acceleration of talks with Burnley, and the 22-year-old is set to undergo a physical within the next two days.

With Fofana’s return to the UK scheduled for Friday, a medical examination on Saturday is becoming increasingly probable.Because of this, he will miss Burnley’s league match against Luton on Friday night, but the transfer should go through soon after.

Ian Maatsen was able to finalize his loan transfer to Borussia Dortmund when his return made room for an international loan.To get Fofana on loan, Sevilla had to wait for Chelsea to either sell one of the seven players currently occupying their limited loan berths or terminate another loan deal.

Burnley, who are in need of оffensive reinforcements, appears to have signed him, and they appear to have lost out.

Only bottom-place Sheffield United have scored fewer goals in 20 league games this season than the Clarets (20).

Fofana is a promising youngster who only played 17 times for Union Berlin this season, but he has the potential to make a big impact for Burnley as they figҺt for promotion.

Another Burnley forward may be shown the door when Fofana arrives.

Schalke, of the Bundesliga, are interested in 23-year-old Darko Churlinov, who has not appeared for Vincent Kompany’s squad this year.

Burnley ‘exploring deal’ to sign David Datro Fofana from Chelsea

David Datro Fofana was formally recalled from his loan at Union Berlin earlier today by Chelsea. The main reason for the return is to make room for Ian Maatsen, who is due to head to Borussia Dortmund, and to hopefully improve Fofana’s condition compared to his time in Berlin.

The 21-year-old is reportedly “exploring a deal” to join Burnley, so he may find a better scenario closer to home. It is unclear from The Athletic’s “exclusive” report if the parties involved are looking to secure a loan or a long-term transfer. Perhaps we’re just going to keep our options open and see what the trip turns up?

Considering that Chelsea supposedly paid Molde FK €12 million for their services last winter, we don’t really care about this matter. The fact that DDF is under contract with us until 2029 makes any transfer decision more hard, but Burnley may be negotiating a comparable deal.
