Liverpool star Curtis Jones receives an apology from Jurgen Klopp for his ‘very important’ underperformance in recent games

The first leg of Liverpool’s semi-final match against Fulham was played on Wednesday night at Anfield. Liverpool fought back from behind to win 2-1.

Darwin Nunez, who came off the bench, set up Cody Gakpo and Jones for a quick-fire double, and the Reds finally regained their footing in the second half after struggling for most of the game.

Tosin Adarabioyo had another solid game, and Jones’ equalizer came after a powerful deflection off his 25-yard shot.

Despite making seven appearances in the Premier League this season, the 22-year-old has struggled to establish a regular starting spot for the first team since breаking into the main squad few seasons ago.

Jones said BBC Radio 5 Live after the Fulham game, “It is benefitting me loads,” in reference to his recent strong play in the team’s games. As long as I maintain it, it will be fine. The onus is now on me to make the most of this opportunity.

In response, Klopp admitted that he may have underutilized Curtis, but he yet maintained that the player was crucial to the team and that he was aware of it.

“I need more game time” was the only message that stood out in his interview, which I happened to overhear in passing. That is so cool! I deeply apologize for not allowing Curtis more game time earlier.

He has come a long way. On the field, he appeared to be the fittest player. After taking a tumble—what seemed like a leg—he quickly recovered and scored.

As a footballer, he is excellent; he has always been so, but with these abilities, he is now, thank goodness, constantly excellent for me and everyone else. Wow, that’s awesome! His improved game sense is a direct result of his significant progress in defensive matters. When that happens, his abilities will suԀԀenly shine through.

“The boy’s natural scouse confidence is so cool; it’s a pleasure to be around him.”

Before next Wednesday’s second leg at Craven Cottage, Liverpool will travel to Bournemouth on Sunday in an effort to expand their advantage atop the Premier League.
