The highly anticipated 2016 book It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover is officially back in development at Blake Lively’s hands.

With the end of the Hollywood strikes and the birth of her fourth child, the 36-year-old Gossip Girl alumnus has returned her frizzy red wig to embody Lily Blσσm.

The film’s intended release date of February 4 was postponed for months due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

On the set in Jersey City, New Jersey, Blake donned the bohemian-inspired outfit of her character, which comprised patchwork pants and a floral jacket with bright yellow sleeves.

The film is directed by Justin Baldoni, 39, who also stars as Ryle Kincaid, Lily’s spouse, after acquiring the film rights.

Blake is back on the big screen for the first time in four years with It Ends With Us. 2020 saw the publication of The Rhythm Section, her most recent endeavor.

Filming for the movie began in Hoboken, New Jersey, last April. The plot revolves around Lily, who, after graduating from college, comes to a new city to run a flower business and develops feelings for Ryle, a wealthy doctor.

Her bliss is short lived as Atlas, her childhood sweetheart whom she hasn’t quite moved on from, reappears in her life and Ryle becomes αggяєѕѕινє and abusive.

Because It Ends With Us is based on her parents’ relationship, Hoover has said that writing it was “the hardest book I’ve ever written.”

In 2019, the book had been translated into more than 20 languages and had sold over a million copies worldwide.

The best-selling print book of 2022 was It Ends With Us, which spent more than 90 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List.

With over 20 million books sold, Hoover is the best-selling novelist in the US. Her It Ends With Us sequel, It Starts With Us, was released in October 2022.

It Ends With Us was optioned by actor Baldoni (well known for his role on Jane the νirgin) through his Wayfarer Entertainment firm in 2019. Author Hoover provided consultation for the movie.

The screenplay adaptation is being written and produced by Christy Hall, who is also the creator of the Netflix series I Am Not Okay With This.

Hoover and Lively are also executive producers. No release date has been declared as of yet.
