Chelsea are considering a bid for Jose Mourinho’s star Roma striker Paulo Dybala

With their 4-0 FA Cup victory over Preston North End over the weekend, Mauricio Pochettino’s side made it three wins in a row.

They are presently short on forward options, with Nicolas Jackson likely to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations later this week and Christopher Nkunku out with a hip ιnjury.

Chelsea have long admired both Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, but a transfer for either might be prohibitively expensive due to financial fair play restrictions.

However, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Blues may have found a low-cost solution in Dybala, who presently plays for Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

The Argentine has five goals and six assists in 13 Serie A games this season, although his contract now has a release clause of only £10.3 million.

When asked about Chelsea’s January transfer ambitions on Monday, Pochettino remained tight-lipped but disclosed he had contacts with the Chelsea hierarchy regarding incoming business.

When asked about the meeting, he stated, “We are assessing the squad as we always do.”

‘We spoke with the owners and the sporting director yesterday and today. We are considering all of our possibilities.

‘But I’m glad because we have multiple striker alternatives, and then we need our second line оffensive players to come up and score and assist the club score and win games.’I’m extremely optimistic, I’m pleased with the squad, and if anything new emerges, we’ll make an announcement, but for the time being, we’re carrying on as usual.’

Chelsea will face Middlesbrough in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.
