After being recalled from his loan term with Dundee early, Jurgen Klopp suggests that Owen Beck could make his full Liverpool debut.
Jurgen Klopp has had a terrible season due to injuries; Liverpool have lost both left backs, but a fresh player could step in.
After spending time on loan with Dundee United, 21-year-old Owen Beck is back with the club. Klopp has hinted that the teenager, who has struggled during his last two loan periods, may receive an opportunity to play for the first team following the injuries sustained by Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, the squad’s primary left backs.
The German coach expressed his optimism regarding Owen, saying, “We are really positive about him but he had two difficult loan spells, things can happen when you move away from home” (as reported by Liverpool Echo). Everything is possible if you have the right coach, the proper team, and another seasoned left back on board. Given that we have already lost two left backs, the scenario is crystal clear: we should bring back the guy we like because he is available. End of story.
Beck has returned from a trio of loan stints in the past two years, spending time with Dundee, Bolton Wanderers, and Portugal’s Famalicao. Bolton and Dundee have not produced the same level of play as his impressive displays in Portugal and with Liverpool’s youth teams.
Beck is the only available natural left-back for Sunday’s FA Cup match against Arsenal, so Klopp may have no choice but to start the kid in his first game. Based on his statements during Friday’s news conference, it appears that he would be open to the idea.
