19-year-old pictured in Chelsea training after returning from disappointing summer transfer
On Thursday at Cobham, Andrey Santos made his comeback to Mauricio Pochettino’s team in anticipation of their FA Cup third-round matchup with Preston North End.
The 19-year-old, who had only made two appearances since his temporary summer swap, was called up earlier this week from his season-long loan at Nottingham Forest.
During Chelsea’s preseason tour of the United States, Andrey made an impression. Several clubs pursued the Brazilian teenager during the summer. After Forest won the race, Steve Cooper took over as manager, but the decision wasn’t successful.
A club statement on Wednesday stated, “Andrey Santos has been recalled from his loan at Nottingham Forest.”
It’s uncertain what Andrei will do for the remainder of the season, but Chelsea and the midfield player are figuring out the best course of action for his advancement.
He has since returned to the field at the team’s Cobham training facility as they continue to prepare for their FA Cup match this coming Saturday.
Andrey, sporting a braid, participated in the session. He is unlikely to be included in the matchday roster until he gets adjusted and his immediate future is decided.
