Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Returns to the WWE and Targets Roman Reigns

On New Year’s Day, the A-list action actor returned to the ring to cause trouble. On Monday’s Raw Day 1, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made a dramatic comeback to the WWE ring on New Year’s Day. The legendary action movie star from the A-list delivered a loud and animated monologue.

The 51-year-old Black Adam actor purportedly came out to physically and verbally abuse Jinder Mahal. He managed to incite the whole assembly to yell “douche bag” at Mahal, and he even displayed a touch of charming self-doubt with an insult that inadvertently burned him as well.

The Rock said to Mahal, “You’re not funny, and nobody likes you.” “As a matter of fact, if you were one of The Rock’s movies, you would probably be Baywatch.”

Mahal fired back, “Thankfully, I’ve never seen Baywatch.”

The Rock shot back, “Yeah, well, nobody else did either.” “Shut your mouth when I’m talking to you.”

The barrage of brutal zingers caused a fight, as was to be expected, but The Rock wasted no time in ending it quickly with some strong blows and, at the end, the People’s Elbow, which received a loud cheer from the audience.

But it was when Johnson gently called out Roman Reigns—a long-awaited matchup that might become historic (and extremely lucrative)—that WWE fans really went crazy. Mahal had just left the ring.

“I’m heading to have a bite to eat. Should The Rock take a seat in a booth tonight when he goes out to eat in San Diego? To the applauding crowd, “Or should The Rock sit at the bar?” he questioned. “Or, should The Rock sit at the Head of the Table?”

This is obviously a reference to Roman Reigns, the Undisputed Universal Champion and the Head of the Table of the WWE. Fans were going crazy over the mere thought of the matchup.

Reigns seems to find it humorous as well, as evidenced by her response to The Rock’s challenge, which consisted of a sobbing and laughing emoji.

Johnson entered the ring back in September and startled WWE fans on Friday Night Smackdown in Denver, Colorado. Today, he is reported to be worth $800 million from his multiple film projects and branding endeavors.

The Rock performed the classic People’s Elbow move on WWE star Austin Theory during his presence. John Cena also made an appearance and gave The Rock a heartfelt bro hug backstage.
