In the Premier League, the Blues defeated Luton 3-2 on the road in their last game of the year on Saturday.
The visitors appeared to be in complete control of the match for the whole of it at Kenilworth Road, but Mauricio Pochettino’s team gave up two goals in the closing minutes to make it tense.
In the 3-2 victory, Chelsea youngsters Cole Palmer (two) and Noni Madueke scored goals.
Following the weekend’s triumph at Luton, Madueke lavished enormous praise on his fellow attacker for Chelsea.
Madueke’s aim, with his less strong right foot, was a real peach. With two outstanding finishes of his own, including a really calm play inside the penalty area that we doubt many players could duplicate in a game, Palmer stole the show.
“That’s him all over,” Madueke said in reference to Palmer to BBC Sport. When he scores a goal, he is calm and collected, and I’m glad for him. Ever since joining the team, he has performed incredibly well.
Palmer and Madueke were members of Luton’s formidable front four.
From the left wing, Nicolas Jackson had a very animated appearance. On the right, Madueke was much the same, contributing greatly on defense as well as offense.
Palmer, however, stole the show as the starting No. 10 behind Armando Broja, the center striker.
After the game, Jermaine Jenas praised Palmer as “sensational” on TNT Sports 1.
Chelsea’s forward line still finds it difficult to break down low blocks in many of the team’s games this season, but Palmer, a reliable attacker, can now work some magic.
It’s amazing how mature and composed he is for a 21-year-old. With the way he’s playing every week, it’s amazing to watch him become one of this squad’s leaders.
