Paul Merson addresses Chelsea player Reece James’s impatience after surgery

James will miss up to four months of action after a season-long ιnjury that limited him to 451 minutes of playing time.

After the right back hobbled off the field in Chelsea’s December loss to Everton due to a recurrence of an earlier hamstring strain, the team determined that surgery would be the best course of action.

Both the club and the 24-year-old’s prospects of earning a spot on England’s Euro 2024 roster have taken a major Һit due to the ιnjury layoff.

The defender was reportedly hesitant to undergo surgery because he was anxiоus to come back to playing for his club, which has struggled to get off to a good start under Mauricio Pochettino.

If he wants to stay healthy in the future, though, Merson thinks he has to be patient while he heals from injuries.

In an interview with Sportskeeda, the Arsenal great expressed his dismay at the continued long-term ιnjury to Reece James, one of Chelsea’s top players.

It’s becoming more of a problem now. He obviously enjoys playing football, as he appears to be hurrying himself back.

However, patience is key when dealing with these types of ailments. Plus, he’s a fantastic footballer, so I feel bad for him. But he needs to be patient if he wants to stop getting hurt.

Not only is James out for Christmas Eve’s match against Wolves, but Enzo Fernandez, Levi Colwill, and Noni Maduake are also questionable.

Chelsea might find themselves in the cellar by Christmastime if their current run of poor performances continues. The home team is only three points behind the away team in the league.

“I felt Wolves were poor last weekend against West Ham,” Merson continued. They’ve never looked worse than that this season. With Chelsea, you can’t predict the outcome.

Even if Chelsea’s performance against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup was a morale booster, I’m still picking a draw since Chelsea’s defense is still questionable. A draw between Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
